Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement Between Hamas and Israel

New Delhi: The President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), Syed Sadatullah Husaini, has welcomed the recently announced ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. In a statement to the media, the JIH President remarked, “This ceasefire is a crucial step toward halting the bloodshed in Gaza and provides an opportunity to deliver much-needed relief to the people of Gaza, who have endured one of the most devastating genocidal assaults in history. The international community must urgently initiate efforts for the rehabilitation and rebuilding of Gaza and take decisive steps toward the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Arab lands, ensuring freedom for the Palestinian people through the establishment of the independent Palestinian state.”

Mr. Husaini paid tribute to the “courageous and heroic resistance of the people of Palestine,” their sacrifices, and their historic resilience. He reminded global powers, stating, “This ceasefire comes after 15 months of a brutal onslaught that claimed the lives of more than 48,000 people, the majority of whom were civilians, including children, women, doctors, teachers, relief workers, journalists, and other non-combatant citizens. The Gaza onslaught will remain a significant stain on the so-called civilized world and a thorn in the conscience of history and humanity.”

While the ceasefire is set to take effect on Sunday, Mr. Husaini pointed out that Israel has continued its violence, killing over 87 people, including 21 children and 25 women, in the interim. “The world must recognize that Israel’s expansionist ambitions and blatant disregard for international norms and humanitarian principles pose a severe threat to regional and global stability,” he stated.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind demands that the international community hold Israel accountable for its flagrant violations of international law and human rights. “The top political and military leadership responsible for this annihilation must face justice for their actions, carried out with impunity and without remorse,” Mr. Husaini added.

He emphasized that the ceasefire agreement should not be viewed as an endpoint. “The root causes of occupation and injustice must be addressed to achieve lasting peace. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind reiterates its call for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state. Lasting peace in the Middle East can only be realized through justice for the Palestinian people, the right of return for the Palestinian diaspora, and the complete liberation of Al-Aqsa Masjid and Al-Quds. We urge the global community to take decisive steps to address these foundational issues and pave the way for a future of coexistence, security, and stability for all,” he concluded.
